While D.C. does assist in providing entertainment, families will rarely have trouble finding things to do within the city’s limits regardless of the season. There is a bike trail streaming through town and straight into D.C., an endless amount of food and attractions and Herndon is also only a car ride away to Reston Town Center and a variety of small business boutiques and eateries. Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is also a great place for outdoor adventures hosting shows and concerts in the summer and sledding in the winter!

    Travel
    Herndon is also known for easy commutes with connections to major highways, interstates, and public transportation. The town is located right off of the Dulles Toll Road, and Fairfax County Parkway. Herndon is also a short drive to Route 28 and Lee Highway. If you’re in need of public transportation, Herndon is a short drive to the Reston/Wiehle Metro stop right off of Silver line and hosts a number of Metro bus stops. The Metro will also continue to expand further into Herndon and Fairfax County, adding 7 more stops by 2025. Two major airports are also located right around the corner with Dulles International Airport (IAD) being a 6 mile drive and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) just 26 miles away.
